Privacy Policy

This privacy policy describes how the operator of dicom-splitter.ch handles personal data. The Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP), in the version in force since September 1, 2023, applies.

The short version: Uploaded DICOM files do not leave your browser. Conversion runs entirely on your device via WebAssembly. The operator never has access to your image data or patient information.

2. Processing of uploaded DICOM files

When you load a DICOM file into the tool on dicom-splitter.ch, the file is processed exclusively in your browser. The Python runtime used for this purpose (Pyodide) and the pydicom library are loaded into your browser via a public CDN (jsDelivr) and perform the conversion client-side.

No upload of the DICOM file or its contents (including patient data contained in DICOM tags) is made to servers operated by the operator or any third party. The resulting single-frame files are packaged into a ZIP archive in your browser and offered for local download only.

3. Data collected during your visit

3.1 Server log files (Infomaniak)

The website is hosted by Infomaniak Network SA in Swiss data centers. When the website is accessed, the hosting provider records technical connection data in log files, typically:

These data are used to provide the website technically, ensure security and stability (e.g. detection and mitigation of attacks) and are processed by Infomaniak in accordance with their privacy practices and deleted after a short retention period. The legal basis is the overriding legitimate interest in the secure operation of the website (Art. 31 FADP).

3.2 Cookies and tracking

This website does not set any cookies, uses no web analytics tool (Google Analytics, Matomo, or similar), and embeds no tracking pixels, advertising networks, or social media plugins.

3.3 Embedded third-party services

To deliver the tool, resources are loaded from the following sources. As a technical necessity, your IP address is transmitted to the respective providers:

These providers process only the connection data necessary to deliver the requested resource. No content of your DICOM files is transmitted to these services.

4. Disclosure to third parties

Personal data are not transferred or sold to third parties. Disclosure takes place only insofar as required to comply with statutory obligations or in response to an order from an authority or court.

5. Cross-border data processing

Apart from the CDN providers listed in section 3.3 (located within the EU or globally distributed), no personal data are disclosed abroad. The transmission to these providers consists solely of the IP address technically required to deliver the website; no content data are transferred.

6. Your rights

Under the FADP, you have, in particular, the following rights as a data subject vis-à-vis the operator:

Please direct requests to the contact address provided in section 1. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).

7. Data security

Transmission between your browser and the web server is encrypted via HTTPS (TLS). The tool itself processes your DICOM files locally on your device; secure storage and lawful handling of patient data on your device and within your practice or clinic environment remain your own responsibility.

8. Changes to this privacy policy

The operator reserves the right to amend this privacy policy where required, e.g. to reflect changes to the tool, third-party services, or the legal framework. The current version is always available on this page.
